Kodak Challenge Employee Golf Tournament
This blog is an update on the OCTO organization activities to celebrate and promote the 2009 Kodak Challenge. The last blog focused on a Putting Challenge event; this one is about the grand finale - the OCTO Invitational Golf tournament.
On Friday August 14, over 95 members of the organization, friends, family members, and colleagues gathered for the annual golf tournament using a scramble format. The big change this year was the inclusion of several Kodak Challenge elements to promote the year-long event on the PGA Tour. There was an increase of 33% in number of players since the 2008 event. So, "something" sparked more interest.
Many team and individual prizes as well as raffle prizes were awarded. To promote the Kodak Challenge, several holes on the course were designated as "challenge" holes. Just like the PGA Tour event, the low score over these holes won a special prize. In this case it was a team event and each member of the team won the same prize. There were also Kodak Challenge quiz questions that presented the opportunity to win Kodak Challenge prizes.
During play, two leader board signs were maintained to show players how well the challenge holes were being played. This added some additional excitement. The overall winners had a score of 63 (-9) for the 18 holes and the "Challenge" winners had a score of 22 (-3) for the designated 6 holes. The big surprise was the winning score for low number of team putts - a score of 12. This team had a strategy to focus on the number of putts rather than score; they often chose a ball location off of the green rather than one already on.
Many signs, posters, banners as well as other communication vehicles spread the word of the Kodak Challenge with the logo and other information to inform the target audience more about the PGA Tour event. Before play, each participant received a welcome bag with various information and items of need for the day. This also included several bits of information describing the details of the Kodak Challenge - something that they might need during the quiz (previously mentioned) after the round.
The weather, play, food were all great and everybody had a fun time. Some of the pictures for the day and event are included here.

It was a great day all around and the effort of the planning team was well received. Special thanks go to the event planning team as well as others that made this possible. This includes Carol, Ray , Mary, Mary Pat and Sandy as well as many others.
